We went to one of the less sexy of Club Med destinations,(Port St. Lucie, FL) but the kids club made up for that. Max was watched by a bevy of adorable caretakers in a very nice daycare setting, fully equipped with a baby pool. My little Max made friends with another boy named Max and a boy named Demitrius. This Club Med is very child friendly and therefore the majority of the guests were parents too, so Craig and I un-apologitically talked about sleep schedules and Max's pooping issues with virtual strangers. More importantly Craig and I lounged by the grown up pool and laughed. It had been a while and it restored my belief that everything would be OK. There's nothing worse for me than feeling despair in my marriage.
So back in Philly, my birthday arrived. Craig who has always had a flare for giving thoughtful gifts got me a kindle, and took me out for dinner. He had also planned that we go to a jazz club but thankfully gave me the option to go back home and crawl into bed with my new present. I am 34 years old. Birthday resolution: find my self. get organized. pay bills on time. get writing. exercise more. I'm working on it.
Max is now 13 months old. He is walking and babbling. He eats all sorts of food. He's inquisitive and happy. I go to bed each night exhausted but generally satisfied that Max had a great day. How do Moms do it? How do you do what you want to do and ensure your baby is getting the best of you? And make dinner for your husband?!
I suppose I'll find out one day. Finally I think the name of this blog has to change. It's between Greetings From Philadelphia and Goodnight Philly.
