Summer Heat

Major News Items of My July

1. Max gets potty trained
2 Breastfeeding vs formula. How many more days, weeks, months can I last?
3. I am watching more TV than ever.
4. Charlotte falls out of her swing

Potty Training, we chose the Lora Jensen method. It's a major time committment. You can not leave the house, or let your child out of your sight for 3 whole days. For $24 dollars you get an e book and Lora herself replies to all your strategic questions like, "my son refuses to put on underwear, what do I do?". Per the handbook, I asked Max about 50 times a day, "are you still dry?" followed by constant praises like, "way to go" and "I'm so proud of you" .  I wondered when Max was going to turn around and tell me to shut  up.
The first day  Max had a couple of accidents but seemed to enjoy all the attention. I had a ton of arts and crafts projects for us to do and we even baked muffins. Day 2 was a little tougher, arts and crafts lost its luster after Max decimated  his crayons and paint brushes.  I was too tired to bake. And then Craig and I got testy with each other,  which happens if we are in constant close proximity for more than 36 hours. Day 3, Craig went back to school, and I handled the potty by myself. But it worked.(besides night time..we are still working on that) The diapers are gone. I now carry around a portable potty. Sexy, I know.

Breastfeeding vs Formula. I lasted 5 months with Max. I will have nursed Charlotte 4 months next week. I am losing patience though. It's not that I don't enjoy nursing, I just want to do other things, like get a pedicure without rushing back home. I feel guilty that I want to switch her to formula. I know, no need to feel guilty, but I do. However it's just a matter of time before I break out the Similac. Boy do  I love those portable pre-made bottles.
ps. Is the word "nursing" better to say than "breastfeeding"? Is breastfeeding just too visual?

TV. "Finding Sarah", is now a bore to watch, For two episodes I watched Sarah exercise. But I refuse to put down the remote. I was watching Million Dollar Decorators, ( the season just ended). I hope the show is renewed. I love Kathy Ireland and Martyn Lawrence Bullard. I want to eat Chocolate and drink Champagne in Palm Springs. I want to begin each sentence with "Dahling you must have a drink..." just cuz its a Wednesday afternoon. But I would especially love Martyn to decorate a home of mine.

The Fall. Charlotte, fell out of her swing. She just flipped over like a pancake right in front of my eyes. My instinct told me she would be OK, but I decided to call the nurses line. A stern nurse instructed me to wake her up in the middle of the night to check her eyes and breathing.
But against all professional advice, I decided to let her sleep.  When it comes to baby #2, there just isn't the time to indulge in midnight wake up sessions.
